Chiezda Washington's Bio:

I am a motivated, inspired, courageous, woman of God who just happens to be a single mother, CEO and future author. I was born and raised in Washington, DC and educated in public school system. I was never limited by my surroundings and therefore went on to pursue a degree in Business at the University of Maryland, College Park. It has been an honor being in business for myself as prior to becoming a business owner/operator, I worked in corporate America for 14 years helping others.

It is my time to shine and I will get mine in 2009!!

Business Bio:

I am the Founder/CEO of a full service Mobile Spa in Baltimore, MD, Pampering 2 Prosperity, LLC. We offer massage, facials, pampered hand and foot treatments. These services are for individuals or small to large groups of people. The products used to provide these services are all organic and naturally made. There are no parabins or sulfates in our products being offered by Soul Purpose Lifestyle Company, of which I am a National Sr. Marketing Executive.

Chiezda Washington's Succesful Sista Profile:

Chiezda Washington shares her success story and personal experiences as a black woman in business.

Did you always want to be a Business Woman?

Yes, after working in corporate for other very successful businessmen, I always known that I wanted to be an entrepreneur, I just wasn't certain what business model best suited my lifestyle. It wasn't until I joined a Network Marketing company that I realized that I did not want to be solely responsible for earning the income for my business endeavor.

I would rather have 1% effort of 100 people than to have 100% effort of my own. It is called leverage.

How would you describe your experience as a Black Entrepreneur?

I would say that it has been a rewarding and challenging experience. As a minority, small women-owned business, the challenges are great but none that can't be overcome.

Looking back on your business decisions, is there anything that you would have done differently?

I would have Inc and solicited the investments of far greater assets that those of my own.

Did you have any formal business training? Do you think this is important to be successful?

I do possess formal business training and it is imperative that if someone is going to start and manage a business that they learn and become empowered in making the best business decisions they can and not become victims of ignorance.

What funding sources have worked for you?

I've solicited private investors (angel investors) and I've also used my own savings to sustain my business. No personal or business loans therefore my company is DEBT-FREE.

How has family/friend support financially or otherwise affected your business efforts?

I've not had the pleasure of receiving a great deal of financial support from family but it will not and has not hindered the growth of my business.

How do you work on making your business grow?

I request referrals from very happy clients, I am a natural networker and am always looking to add more clients to my portfolio. I'm planning to expand my business to a much diverse demographic than that in which I started.

What words of wisdom can you share with other business women?

I would say to never allow your dreams to die. They were instilled in us as children to have something to work toward as adults. Life will always happen to those that do not happen to it.

Create a plan, write it down and make it plain, get the mentorship of someone who is doing what you want to do or is where you want to be and MAKE IT HAPPEN. Your success is only limited by your ability to see it as a reality.
