Tawana Necole's Bio:

The oldest has leadership qualities is what my father, who is an exceptional businessman, always told me. But what I learned from Dr. Cynthia Hale was that You will not possess what you will not pursue...

I attended Savannah State University where I received my Bachelor of Business Administration in Management. I began working for Bank of America as an Analyst for three years upon graduating. While working with BofA, I attended Webster University and received my Master of Arts in Business Security. At the end of 2007 I was offered a position with SunTrust Bank as an Investigator.

In November 2008 I was released from the position and have been able to start my Career as a business consultant to small businesses. I am now a Consultant and I help assist with writing Business Plans: my recent client ~ Rosalyn's Bed and Breakfast Lakeside View.

I am the mother of two healthy boys and I absolutely love being a mother. I love to write, travel, shop, and do business!

Business Bio:

My first business venture started with The Quick Snack Shop while in undergrad for my Entrepreneurship class. I also interned at the Savannah Entrepreneurial Center where I assisted small businesses with Marketing and assistance in writing business plans. In 2001 I Co-Founded and became the 1st President of a Non-Profit organization: Sisters’ Striving for Excellence.

In August 2007 I became a Leisure Travel Consultant. I began Global Journeys, my very own home-based travel company. I offer the lowest prices to international destinations.

Tawana Necole shares her success story and personal experiences as a black woman in business.

Did you always want to be a Business Woman?

I've always wanted to be in business. I am a Buzineswoman On the Grind. Being of service to others is a Disciplined and focused journey. Knowledge is vital and being a resource to others is a part of servicing and this is the reason that I have always wanted to be a Buzineswoman.

How would you describe your experience as a Black Entrepreneur?

As an Entrepreneur, I have had a lot of barriers. A lot of people are intimidated by some of my accomplishments, however, the positive aura has always outweighed the negative energy. My aggressive personality and willingness to succeed has helped me to experience that sometimes you have to fail in order to become really great at your talent or gift. I've also learned to keep people in your circle that are doing more than you so you will never become complacent and you will always strive for more.

Looking back on your business decisions, is there anything that you would have done differently?

I wouldn't have done anything differently.

Did you have any formal business training? Do you think this is important to be successful?

I've completed formal training through higher education as well as through the positions I've had through the banks. I don't think that it is vital to bcoming successful. Noone can teach a person how to make sound quality decisions. Your God-given talents is really all you need once you figure out your purpose.

What funding sources have worked for you?

My Funds, Investors, and currently I am working on obtaining a grant for the Non-Profit organization.

How has family/friend support financially or otherwise affected your business efforts?

My immediate family (mom, dad, & sisters) are very supportive. But family is the hardest to cinvince of business ideas. Friends (TRUE friends) support you through thick and thin and that has been my experience.

How do you work on making your business grow?

The Internet & Networking!

What words of wisdom can you share with other business women?

Faith is the first factor in a life devoted to service. Without faith, nothing is possible. With it, nothing is impossible. ~Unknown

Sometimes the Truth hurts when you look back over your life but the thing about the future is that, you have control over how you want the story to end.~TNG
